  9. Well done to the choir for a superb first performance at the Towy last night! Most enjoyable.

  10. yeah, couldn't agree more with Sian about the Lowri Evans concert. Cracking.

On the one hand a real shame that more people didn't turn out - they all missed an absolute treat, but on the other hand - all the more for us that were there! We should get her back next year.

  11. Re: Improvement works at Allt Rhyd y Groes bridleway

Dear members of Rhandirmwyn community, the bridleway at Allt Rhyd y Groes will be temporarily closed for a period of up to 4 weeks, starting approx 18th Dec., for improvement works. It had deteriorated a lot in recent years, with culverts failing and water damage, and we are aiming to make it more safe and usable again. It may be still passable by foot if absolutely necessary, but this would be with extreme care, and would like to ask if people don't mind avoiding it during this period. Updates will be posted regarding opening/closing dates if they change significantly.

If there are any problems, please let us know on 0795 1186357, Best wishes,

    Valerie and Simon.

  12. What a fantastic night at the Towy last night,,,,,,,,,,,,

Lowri Evans was wonderful.......She has a lovely voice and gave a fantastic show........Her guitarist certainly knows how to play...

The food half time was great..........so thanks John for a great evening.......

  13. Just got back from a our first visit to Rhandirmwyn and we would just like to say to everyone who lives there THANK YOU!

Everyone was very friendly and we did not feel like outsiders in the slightest!! Coming back home has definatly made us all the more determined to move to a place like Rhandirmwyn!!! Chris & Rachel at the pub were brilliant hosts and the food was gorgeous... starting our diet on Monday!!!

Thanks also to Huw who kept us entertained of an evening and gave us some valuable advice on the walk up to the standing stone!!!! Thanks Huw for making it slightly more easy!!!

Also a big THANK YOU to Peter & Gwen Green for allowing us to stay in their gorgous well equiped bungalow Ger-y-llan, didn't want to leave at all! Loved having an open fire in the evening for Fred (the dog) to snuggle up by!

The village was idyllic, views amazing and the people were friendly.... what more could you ask for.... oh I know... for it to stop raining!!! Seriously though, the rain did not matter, was a fabulous place and we throughly enjoyed ourselves.... Thank you all at Rhandirmwyn.

ROLL ON NEXT YEAR WHEN WE WILL RETURN!!!!!

  14. Hello. I've just found this website. Just wrote a piece, lost it in my new computer, that is deliberately pushing my boundaries, and now writing it again. I hope it doesn't appear twice. First a HUGE THANK YOU to all the people who have given me lifts along the road to Llandovery this past year or so. Being without a car has been a great way to meet local people.

Does anyone go into LLandovery on a Monday morning, 10-10.30 ish.? If so, and you could pick me and my grandson up, I'd be very glad.

Also, on Monday evening 3oth, I shall be in Llandeilo for the AGM of the Transition Town groups there. This is open to anyone interested, and will have information about the sustainable initiatives already underway, and proposed for the next stage. This is just local people getting together to make changes. If you would like to go, and can give me a lift back, please let me know. 01550 760140. Also - I will be moving house shortly. I need somewhere to live , that's cheap and cheerful. Unfortunately, it may not be in Rhandirmwyn - because mainly of transport issues. I am looking to Llandeilo / Llangadog area. But who knows - it's a mystery to me at the moment. So again, please let me know if you have any suggestions / leads. I shall be very grateful. Diolch yn fawr, Esyllt

  15. RHANDIR-MWYN COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION AGM

The Annual General Meeting of the RHANDIR_MWYN COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION will be held at the Towy Bridge Inn on Monday 23rd November at 7.30pm. All residents in the Rhandir-mwyn and Llanfair y bryn areas will be welcome. Agenda items should be sent to the Secretary ( secretary@rhandir-mwyn.org ) or lest at Pannau Stores by 19th Novemeber

  16. Great News re. Dai & Diane (she's certainly a fast worker!!). We all wish you the best of luck. Hope you consider the valley as a potential location for a wedding. You can choose between churches, chapels, an assortment of fields to place a marquee for the reception. We have photographers, horse and carriages, caters - you name it - weddings-r-us.

PS let us know which eisteddfod we have to aim towards.

  17. I'm sure that Nerys will want to know that Dai has moved up here to be with me. he works from home so it was easy to do. Who knows, he may soon ‘pop the question’ (hope he hasn’t read this) Nerys has taken such an interest in our welfare that, if we do tie the knot, Nerys will be the first to get an invitation. In the meantime we shall keep reading your wonderful website in the hope that it will help Dai to keep tabs on what’s going on in the area. He told me on the telephone last night that Rhandirmwyn are starting a ‘choir’? Good luck with that venture in your lovely village. Hope to see you up here at the next Eisteddfod.

  18. Please note that the GENERAL MEETING scheduled for Monday 28th September has had to be rescheduled to MONDAY 5th OCTOBER at 7.00pm in the ROYAL OAK DINING ROOM. We hope to see a large number of residents there...

  19. Big thank you to all of you who continue to support our pork production and to let you know that we have just fully restocked and have freezer full of joints, chops & sausages whenever you need them, specially now the nights are drawing in and it will save a trip into town! No price change, £2 per pound for everything except flavoured sausages (leek, chilli, apricot) £2.50. Almost forgot, resident mums Big Pig & Lil Pig send their thanks for all the tasty veggie leftovers you have been bringing them. See you soon, Jane & Mick Pen y Gorof: 760235

  20. Greetings All. Not been on site for a few weeks as been a very busy girl and away a lot with work. Trust that the Dai & Diane romance is blosoming. (Diane - not looking for romance on line myself; I have a gorgeous bloke already).

Almost time to get myslef busy on this year's Pregressive Supper. Last year's supper indroduced us to a number of people living in the valley which have now become firm friends; Chris & I are looking forward to meeting and getting to know more lovely people this year. Perhaps Dai & Diane could become our new friends?

  21. I can only echo what Diane has said...I had a wonderful time last weekend when I visited her. On my return yesterday, I was happy to hear that the Rhandirmwyn show went well and that you had a fine sunny day. I'm also glad that the evening twmpath was a success. I shall be inviting Diane down here sometime soon and we'll celebrate in Ty Te Twm. Thanks to this website, I'm a very happy man...Dai

  22. Hello Nerys. How kind of you to care about Dai and I. As it happens, we seem to have ‘hit it off’ as he’s my age (but I will not say what that is in respect of his anonymity) For your information, he is visiting me that weekend so we will not be able to come to the ‘ball’ but, and here’s a promise, I will be paying a return visit to him sometime and we’ll visit the tea shop as that holds a special place in our hearts. Maybe, Nerys, you would also like to meet the man of your dreams online? I hope you are as lucky as I’ve been. Good luck. Diane.

  23. Delighted that Dai & Diane got it together. Sorry to have missed you at Ty Te Twm, but would not have wanted to be a gooseberry! Being a romantic myself, wish you a happy time together. Will you be spending lots of time in the valley together? Come to the assosication Bands Bar & BBQ on Show Night (29thAug), I'll buy you both a drink.

  24. Thanks to all that came to Laura's party on Sat......What a great night......You all made the evening by dressing up, Laura was thrilled to bits with the effort that was made..........Hi to Adam, Laura and a special HIYA to caitlin it was lovely to meet you and you will always be welcome here.........Dai and Diane... Let me know who you are when you come to TY TE TWM next and I will give you a romantic scone to share....Sian

  25. Hi There all who knew us last week. Adam was in the winning team at the Towy Pub Quiz, whilst 'my team' -Strange Waffle came a gallant second!! Well ok- i had VERY little to do with the victory but i learnt so much!...Braxy,Cosmopolitan,Keratin!...and Caitlin...the 'quiet one'...as if!....she says "hiya" to all her fans!!

Just thought we'd drop a line to say what a lovely place you live in...can see the attraction...got back to M53 and realised how much concrete there is around here! Miss the hills, the tranquility and the beauty...Ad loves the town life for the time being so not able to persuade him to move to the country for a good few years im afraid:(....could do with a lottery win! Have recommended Rhandi-mwyn to 2 people already!

Went back to work today and feel like the holiday is a distant memory!!

How did the party go? Love the pic!

Sorry to Tim & Fiona (was it Fiona? sorry if ive got that wrong im useless with names) for not making it round... time caught up with us and we were trying to fit alot in.

Thanks for the welcome Sean at Te Ty Tym lovely place!

All the best to everyone...hope to see you again

    Laura, Ad & Caitlin.x

  26. Dear Dai, It was really lovely meeting you in Ty Te Twm. You were just as I had pictured you in my minds eye. I'm glad that we were able to arrange a meeting through this website. He / she seemed very nice and I feel confident that our secrets will be safe there... I look forward to the next time. Sorry to Nerys that she missed our initial meeting. X Diane

  27. RHANDIRMWYN RESIDENTS REVOLT - Have you seen the letter on the village notice board from the clerk to the community committee, stating that she wishes anyone who considers the bottle bins at the entrance to the village to be an eyesore, to please write to her and send the letter to the address on the notice? If you feel strongly about the appearance of the village, please put pen to paper and perhaps suggest a more unobtrusive site - or do we really need them? Perth-y-Duon Rhandirmwyn.

  28. AT LAST - someone has installed a step at the notice board in the village. Now all the short legged, crossed eyed inhabitants can read the notices...Thank you Rhandirmwyn Community Association. Dave and Joy

  29. Dear Diane, I've got a good idea so that we can meet...we could both email the web person of this site and ask if they could pass on our telephone numbers. What do you think? Alternatively I don't mind being seen at the tea shop. I'll wager that Nerys would be there to find out who we are...x Dai

  30. Come On Dai !! Respond to the Lady. Don't go all shy on us now !!!!!

  31. OK Dai...I've been to Rhandirmwyn this morning and checked out the tea shop. We could meet there as nobody will recognise us. I looked out for you but don't know what you look like yet! I eyeballed every good looking young farmer who passed but alas none looked back...Never mind, we'll know each other when we arrange a meeting. x Diane

  32. Many, many thanks to all those people who are deliberately NOT choosing to use the ill placed bottle bins, to avoid causing noise and disturbance to ourselves.

    Joy and Dave Wingar, Perth-y-Duon.

  33. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE.

Hi All, As you may be aware the village is hosting the "Twm Sion Cati" Festival at Ystradffin on 22 / 23rd Aug.

Can you help towards making this a wonderful event by donating bottles and cans for our fundraising tombola / pic a straw.

Please leave anything you feel able to give at Pannua Stores by 31st July.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.

  34. Dear Diane, Of course I forgive you...I was worried that you had disappeared but I'm so happy now that you've made contact again. I'm happy to meet. I can be smart in dress. I could be good looking and I would go and hire a Mercedes but wouldn't you rather I was me? If you agree, we'll meet in Rhandirmwyn. The new tea shop is good but not very private...x Dai

  35. Hi again Dai...I hope you will forgive me for not sending a message recently. Your idea that we should meet is necessary I suphose as we can't keep this frienship going without meeting each other. I don't think you should need to dress as a leek...I think I would rather want to look out for a fellow who was smartly dressed and good looking and preferably driving a Mercedes! If you can fulfill all these then I'll agree to meet you. I think the best thing would be for me to come to Rhandirmwyn sometime...x Diane

  36. THE RHANDI MIDGE

We're enjoying a remarkable summer in the Upper Towy Valley but does anyone remember us ever having as many black midges in the evenings? They're almost as bad as I remember the west coast of Scotland to be. Swarms of these things attack as soon as I try to water the garden. If anyone knows how to avoid them or to treat their bites, please leave a message here. Thanks. Hylton

  37. Hi All

Do you mind if I thank every body for a great day on Saturday!

Nerys finally let ne go to bed at 1am - I had been looking for a little lay down around 4.30!

Sadly not all the cards held £50….

    Chris

  38. hey everybody - what a great night up the Towy bridge on Saturday evening with the Live music!

Great ambiance in Brianne Bar, great singer, great food: an all round good night.

Hope John get her back and does more of the same.

Quite cool to be seen at the old place! Cheating Hearts were in the audience!

  39. dai = diane..... thought for the day

  40. I’m back Diane. Sorry I was away so long…However, I missed our little meetings here on the internet. Reading your replies give me quite a thrill. I’ve not had a close friend like you before so am dying to meet you. So much for a carnation or newspaper…not me, I’ll be dressed as a leak and be shouting from the hilltops when you agree to meet me. X Dai.

  41. Excellent site - we are all so spread out in Rhandirmwyn that its great to have a 'one stop shop' to find out everything thats happening.

Is there anyone in the village who would be willing to teach local Welsh sometime during a weekday- just to conversational level?

  42. We visited Rhandirmwyn once and liked the place. My wife and I like it more now that this site can keep us in touch with photos and the like...the improvements to the shop look good...Edwyn

  43. Hi Dai.....Yes you are right how we get to meet may be difficult to arrange, what wilth other people seeing this. Could be exciting though......On the other hand I am not known in Rhandirmwyn so perhaps a meeting as in one of your love story films with the red carnation or a newspaper might do the trick. Anyway we will see in time. Have a nice time away......Diane....

  44. Hello again Diane. Sorry to rush back a reply so soon but I’m going away to North Wales today and will not be back until next Wednesday so thought I would reply straight away. The thought of sitting in the back row of a cinema thrills me. I’m not a treker but could put up with any sort of film if it meant meeting you cause I’m intrigued to know who you are? My favourite film’s a good love story…I don’t suppose you’re ready to give me your age and contact details yet but how do we do this and perhaps pursue a friendship without the whole world knowing?

  45. Hi Dai.....Glad to hear you like gardening and you grow your own veg. Perhaps you can give me a sample of your marrows sometime. I went to the cinema last night to see the latest Star Trek film, it was very good. Please tell me you like this sort of film as I would someday like to go with you. Hope to hear from you soon. Diane x

  46. Hello again Diane. Hope your business trip was a success. Sorry I haven’t replied sooner but you suggested I should slow down so I’m typing this entry very slowly…! I am a gardening fanatic and grow all my own vegetables. I particularly like doing it in the sunshine…Dai

  47. Hi Dai....... Sorry not spoken this week had to go away on business. Have come home to fantastic weather... Must get out in it and do some gardening. Do you enjoy the sunshine and gardening?.......Diane

  48. Hope Dai and Diane keep their communication going. Our very own Gavin & Stacey!

Graet to read everybody's comments. Agree - great website, and we should 'use it and boost it'

Can anybody give me any advise on cucumber plants? Mine have been in glasshouse for nearly four weeks and they just have not grown any taller than day of planting. They're alive fed & watered, but not growing any taller!

  49. Sandra, Hope the wedding goes well and that you have nice weather... The best person to help you in this area is Sian in the tea shop. Call in there and ask for her advice. There's lots of sight-seeing and especially good eating places in the area. Webmaster

  50. OK Diane, I'm very happy to take the slow route as it's often more scenic and proves to be more interesting! You seem to be such a nice lady whom I would really like to communicate with. I also love Rhandirmwyn. Might it prove to be the meeting place of two soulmates? Time will tell... x Dai

  51. Going to a wedding in your village on the 6th of June. Looking forward to it very much. Well done on your website it has given me a good insight into Rhandirmwyn. We will be there from Friday 5th till Sun 8th June 2009 if anyone has any recommendations for us to go and see while there. Thanks very much Sandra Dublin Ireland.

  52. Glad to hear from you Dai. A little too fast for me but i will gladly talk to you for a while. Perhaps get to know you a bit before we meet. Do you live in Rhandirmwyn or are you like me just taking an interest in the area. Diane x

  53. Hello Diane. I also thought the Rhandirmwyn website was extraordinary. As you and I seem to be of one mind and appreciate good things...shall we arrange to meet up sometime? Dai

  54. What a great idea for a village website. Will be having a go for my own village. Would also love to hear from Dai. x Diane

  55. Brilliant website........ Lets hope its used......

  56. Thanks for all these complimentary comments. It is much appreciated. Let's encourage all the community to use the website and gain from the experience...Hylton (Webmaster)

  57. Nice web site. We have just set one up for the "Ysgol Pantycelyn Action Group" to fight any suggestions or threats of closure. I would be greatful if you would add this to your news section. Please visit www.ypag.org.uk for more information.

  58. Well done to everyone involved in setting up this website. It is terrific!

  59. COOL!!! Good work

  60. Well doner Rhandir-mwyn. I wish you every success with your website. Dai

  61. I am intrigued by the idea of a bartering page for a community and wish we had one on our village website. How did you do it?

  62. What a great tool for the community- Let's all use it!!

  63. Brill website, lets hope many use it.
